FUN FRIDAY--HUNGRY HIPPOS WITH CUPS!
Playing games brings out our inner child and builds memories with the kids in our lives.
Have you seen the videos of people putting marshmallows on the table and having a group of friends put cups on their hands?
The idea is to create the people version of the game Hungry Hippos. Everyone puts 2 plastic cups over their hands. Then, you toss a couple handfuls of mini marshmallows on the table. Set a timer. See which person can collect the most marshmallows with their cupped hands in 30 seconds.
This version has the same wild appeal that the original version continues to give. I remember playing Hungry Hippos when I was a kid. My kids also had the game--Which kid could snatch the largest amount of marbles with their extending hippo head? It was loud, but fun!
This game isn't quite as loud--except for the laughs--and maybe a shout. Right now, it's a small crowd at my home, so my picture is only two sets of cups--but I'm practicing in hopes that I can win against my kids when they are all home for Christmas. This is unlikely, since my son's long arms just swooped to snag all the marshmallows as soon as this picture was taken.
Our inner child remembers the games we played during our formative years. We hold on to the memories of laughing and competition--and maybe we even remember a grownup shout from the other room: "Quiet down, please." It's those untethered freedoms that make us feel childlike as adults and also provide memories for our kids as they grow.
Do you have a game you remember playing as a kid? If you need a fun game over the holidays, try this version of Hungry Hippos! The more people you have, the better! It gets a little crazy!
this is great. I'm looking for games for my grandkids next weekend. I'll try it!
