FUN FRIDAY--LIGHTS!

The delight of light...

I’m a sucker for Christmas lights.

I used to request that our family drive around and look at them, but not everyone likes the lights. It’s mostly just me, although I think they enjoyed it more than they let on.

Some of the displays are fantastical feats of light hanging! I’ve heard a rumor that a drone hangs the lights on one of the trees in a nearby town, which would be amazing to watch.

The MEMORY

When I was a kid, we used to drive around and look at lights. There were two places in town that spared no expense. One had an entire Santa’s village with his workshop, elves, and reindeer. It grew to include the entire North Pole. The other, was a musical wonderland with snowmen and Christmas characters, complete with coordinated music.

THE WONDER

I haven’t seen anything quite like that again, but any lights that are hung up are fascinating to me and delight my inner child. It takes a lot of work and dedication to hang numerous strings of lights! But there’s something magical about the sparkle of light on a dark night--it’s a herald of hope when life seems dark. No matter what we go through, there is light somewhere and there will be light again. Why? Because the Light of the World came down into darkness, bringing with Him the hope of true life.
