FUN FRIDAY--SIMPLICITY
What do plastic cups have to do with simple pleasures?
STARTING SIMPLE
We recently had friends over with a two-year-old daughter. As we finished sharing a meal, the girl played with some of my kids’ old toys that I’ve kept. We started visiting about the simplicity of some toys, which morphed into objects that often excite kids the most: boxes, pots and pans, and other common things.
Simplicity.
As we begin a new year, I’m reminded yet again to keep things simple.
CHILDREN LIKE SIMPLICITY
My inner child is craving simplicity. When we have a lot of irons in the fire, it’s hard to hold them all. So, one thing we can do as adults is take 5 minutes to do something simple.
This small act gives us a reset during the day. A breath of fresh air. And, if you have kids in the house, it shows them that small acts of joy are important.
A QUICK ACTIVITY
Here’s one you can try: STACK ATTACK.
Take plastic cups, I found red solo or paper cups work best. See how many you can stack. Play with various cups for the base and see how many you can add on top. Kids love it when they fall over—and they love the challenge of trying to build. Our inner kids like it too because it is no-risk creativity. No mess, except picking up cups.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you craving simplicity? Or are you in a different season?
*Cups falling is actually kind of fun..

I am in this same season! I see it in my kids too…of all the toys and gadgets they received over the holidays, they tend to gravitate towards the simpler toys with endless possibilities, like cups!
Not only is it just fun, cup stacking is great for finetuning a child's motor skills and concentration. And it takes perseverance. All good stuff.
